How To Break The Silent Treatment
People ask me if my marriage is difficult because my husband and I are sometimes in two different counties. Distance does not kill a relationship. Silence does. We have communication. That is the important thing. Many people are in the same house and are more distant from their partner. Their partner is far from you emotionally.
The silent treatment is a very abusive punishment. If you know how to react, it will not last long. You can focus on you durning the time of silence. Focus on your health. Buying that car you wanted, or anything you wanted to do without your partner in the mix. Things you delay before.
Sometimes a partner gives you the silent treatment out of jealousy. Jealous of your achievements. Your own partner can be your worst competition. And you don't know it. They hate you in secret. They usually give the silent treatment when you don't know why, or what your being punished for. It is a rage. A silent rage. Don't allow this to lower you as a person. Rise above that foolishness. And leave this abuser. Trying to reason with this kind of person is fruitless. Just go bang your head against a tree. You will have the same results.
